The Importance of Cleansing your Skin

Tap water alone will only remove around 65% of the dirt and oil on your skin. That's why skin cleansers were created. They work as emulsifiers to remove dirt, excess natural skin oils (called sebum), bacteria, cosmetics and exfoliated surface skin cells.

Cleansing the skin is a vital part of any skincare program weather you wear make-up or not. The main purpose of a cleanser is to remove make-up, pollution, dead skin cells, sweat and impurities from the skin.

A surprising number of us still use soap! This will dry-out the skin.
Soap strips the natural oils of the skin, change the natural pH levels (the pH of jif an common household cleaner is less stripping to the skin than a standard bar of soap) and do nothing to remove the dead layers of skin, which can block your pores and lead to blackheads and pimples!

Properties of a good cleanser

Maintain the normal acid balance of skin
Do not strip too much of the protecting oil from skin
Contain anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory agents and hydrators

Leaving your skin:

“clean, soothed and hydrated”
